Short activities, such as asking students to write a one-page essay about the importance of books, freedom of speech, or the dangers of censorship, and longer activities, including a showcase of student-created printed and electronic reports on commonly banned books, can achieve curricular goals while helping develop students&#8217; critical-thinking skills and judgment.</p>
